The world was smoky,
the air polluted,
the lands filthy,
and the waters unsuited.
The people ignored the signs,
of an untimely ending,
those repeating the same lines,
gave up on the earth’s mending.
As the ignorance spread,
filling all the land,
more people were pronounced dead,
and still we failed to understand.
Those who were aware,
started losing their voice.
While those whose knowledge was bare,
waxed in their pool of bad choices.
All hope was almost lost,
and all attempts proved futile.
Though some fingers were still crossed,
eminent was our exile.
Then came a virus,
and we were all forced to stay in,
while we bit our lips in despair,
Mother earth had a grin.
Our hearts were filled with fear,
and our eyes with tears,
lamenting amongst our peers,
earth had begun repair.
The skies were blue,
and the seas were clear,
as the north wind blew,
the birds sang cheers.
As the people cried,
the land thrived,
as the people slept,
away the darkness crept.
You’d be surprised,
this blessing was all-round,
those we once gave up on,
together we finally caught up with.
Our humanity again showed,
as we called those we abandoned,
to show that we care,
and there was nothing to fear.
We defeated our pride,
there was nowhere to hide,
in a bid not to be lonely,
we showed emotions that were lovely.
We wailed we were alone,
but in truth we were closer than ever before,
in our loneliness at home,
we waited for the days we’d finally open the door.
Although the price was high,
and we had lost so much,
but there were lessons on the side,
and it could have been far worse.
We were given another opportunity,
for our races survival,
no one has immunity,
and next time there might not be a chance for revival.
A chance to stop the pollution,
respect our community,
This is the only solution,
in unity against vanity.
A long lost beauty again resurfaced,
on the path to its former glory.
Then we were free and saved,
and we knew this one day would be a beautiful story.
